1996-97 Subaru Impreza Outback Part Number: SU-50-96 Installation
All instructions assume a drivers seat vantage point. Caution is advised when removing and reassembling wood or plastic parts of a dash. Applying unnecessary force or pressure may cause a piece to crack or break.
Pro.Fit logo and part number will be right side up and readable when installed.TOOLS REQUIRED: #1 Phillips screwdriver, hook tool, marking pen 1/16” drill bit, drill.
PARTS INCLUDED: Pro.Fit VSMTM, three # 8 x 3/8” screws, instructions.
LOCATION: To the right of the radio.
STEP 1. Open cup holder. Locate and remove two (2) factory screws on left and right of cup holder. These screws hold trim bezel that surrounds the radio and shifter in place. Set screws aside. Lift front of rubber section that surrounds shifter(manual transmission) (Plastic trim bezel on automatic transmission) to locate and remove two (2) screws [one (1) on right and one (1) on left.]. Using the interior hook tool, pry up on trim bezel by shifter. Clips will release. Lift up and turn bezel towards your self to get out of the way.
STEP 2. Locate and remove four (4) factory screws holding in the ashtray, cigarette lighter, cup holder, and radio assembly. Slide unit out. Disconnect all wiring harnesses. Set radio unit aside.
STEP 3. Place Pro.Fit VSMTM in lower right corner of cavity, by screw hole. Using marking pen, mark holes in Pro.Fit VSMTM and set mount aside. Drill pilot holes where marked. Align Pro.Fit VSMTM with pilot holes. Insert and tighten provided screws.
STEP 4. Re-install radio unit. Snap trim bezel back in place. Reinstall and tighten screw. Attach hang-up cup onto Pro.Fit VSMTM.
This completes the installation of your Pro.Fit VSMTM.
