Direction on how to install E-Open in to a BMW Z4

1) This is for information ONLY; you take full responsibility for what you do. If you blow up your car, do not come yelling at me.
2) I did this install on a US spec 2005 BMW Z4. I do NOT know if it will work on BMW’s from other countries.
3) This install did NOT work because my Z4 already had an auto top down feature from BMW that is conflicting with the E-Open. In order to get this to work in my car I have to find out how to disable the internal remote top down feature. The unit was removed from my old 2003 Z4 and it worked just fine. All of the connections are the same.
The car: If your car was made 4/04 or later, you will have problems. The car already has an Auto-Top down feature. Look on the inside of the driver’s side door to find out when your car was manufactured.

Installation: Open the ashtray and pull it and the lighter out.
You should see one screw in the middle. Un screw it. Then carefully pull the ash tray Up and towards the stick sift. ( look at later images to get an idea of how its shaped )
Once the ash tray is removed it easier the work on it if you Unplug the connection and completely remove the unit. But it is not necessary.
You may also want to put a small towel to protect the car from scratches from the ash tray.
Please note that I attached my own wires to all the connection and then attached them to the E-Open. So you will see black red wires…The Unit it self has the following wire colors. See chart of color wire and what it attaches to in car.
Attach Brown wire Tap(4) on to the Brown wire on the lighter ( Neg)
Attach Red wire Tap (3) to the Red Black wire of the lighter ( Pos)
Just above the White power connector in the picture above you should see a long black connection that has about 10 wires going to it. I pullet it out to make it easier to tap.
Here is a picture of it pulled out.
On this connection you want to Tap the Black / Green wire to the Yellow (1) wire on the e-open. And The White/Red/Yellow to the White (short) wire on the e-open (2)
You should now have four wires tapped for the E-open. Now comes the hard part so pay close attention. You are going to be taping in to the computer and it has VERY thin wires running into it. Take your time and do NOT rush it. If you mess this up you can end up with a car that does not start. Also please note that I have some extra wires under my dash board which are connected to a V1 and some other equipment so what you see in my images will not look as bad once you open you dash.
